Indexing a Project

Before you can browse a project's class hierarchy or search a project, the project must be indexed.

To index a project manually:

• Choose Tools > Indexer > Index Project.

To update a project's index automatically when the project is opened and when a file is saved:

1. Choose Edit > Preferences. Choose Indexing from the pop-up menu at the top of the Preferences panel.
2. Turn on the options "Index when project is opened" and "Re-index when file is saved."

If these options are on, Project Builder keeps your project's index up-to-date without your needing to do anything. However, this can slow down other applications running on your computer. If performance is an issue, fine-tune your indexing preferences. See Advanced Indexing Techniques for more information.
